Government Engineering College Thrissur (GECT)

Government Engineering College Trichur (GECT) Kerala, an ISO 9001: 2015 QMS certified institution, is one of the most prestigious and reputed technical education institutions in India . The College is the second oldest engineering institution in the state of Kerala and was established in the year 1957 with under graduate programmes in Civil, Mechanical and Electrical engineering disciplines. The college is the fourth top technical institutions in the state of Kerala and has figured in the list of top 200 engineering institutions in India among the 1071 colleges participated in the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) ranking 2020. Also, most of the UG and PG programmes offered by the college have been accredited by the National Board of Accreditation (NBA), India.

The foundation stone of the main building of the college was laid down by Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, former honourable prime minister of India. The college campus spread over an area of more than 75 acres is located at Ramavarmapuram, about 5 kms from Thrissur city and about 50 kms from Cochin International Airport. From the humble beginning with three UG engineering programmes in 1957, the institution has made substantial progress by way of offering eight undergraduate programmes, twelve post-graduate programmes and doctoral programmes in various engineering disciplines and architecture with an intake of around 1000 students per annum. The College has very renowned and accomplished alumni, many of them are nationally and internationally acclaimed professionals, scientists, CEOs and entrepreneurs like Dr. K Radhakrishanan (former Chairman, ISRO) and Dr. Tessy Thomas (India’s Missile Woman). Currently, the college is affiliated to the APJ Abdul Kalam Technological University, Kerala and is a quality improvement programme (QIP) centre approved by the Ministry of Human Resources Development, Government of India.

About the Conference

Government Engineering College Thrissur has been organizing the biennial International Conference on Emerging Trends in Engineering, Science and Technology (ICETEST) from the year 2009 onwards. Ever since the first edition, the conference has received overwhelming response from academicians, scientists, researchers and scholars all over the world and has become a global platform to present, share and discuss their research findings in various fields of science, engineering and technology. Based on the awe-inspiring success of the past six editions, the seventh edition of the biennial International Conference on Emerging Trends in Engineering, Science and Technology, ICETEST 2023 is scheduled to be organized from 2nd to 4th February 2023. Due to the Covid-19 uncertainties prevailing world over, ICETEST 2023 will be organized in hybrid (offline/online) mode.

In par with the earlier editions of the conference, ICETEST 2023 will have three major tracks with Track-1 being International Conference on Civil engineering Advances for Sustainable Infrastructure Development & Environment (CEASIDE 2023), Track – 2 being International Conference on Recent Advances in Materials Processing and Technology for Sustainability (RAMPTS 2023) and Track – 3 being International Conference on Power Instrumentation Control and Computing (PICC 2023). Track-1: CEASIDE 2023 will be jointly coordinated by the Civil and Architecture departments, Track – 2: RAMPTS 2023 will be coordinated by the Chemical, Mechanical and Production engineering departments and Track – 3: PICC 2023 is coordinated by the Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering, Computer Science and Engineering, and Master of Computer Applications departments of the Institute.

Theme of ICETEST 2023

The conflict between combustion based energy generation and environmental degradation is of global significance that poses threat to the very existence of the present society as well as future generations. It is the responsibility of the academic/research community to support the society through socially and environmentally sustainable solutions to these impending issues by intense R & D activities. In view of the above, ICETEST 2023 is organized with the main theme “Society, Energy & Environment – showcasing the roadmap for tomorrow”. Apart from customary plenary sessions, all the tracks of the conference will have keynote and invited speeches and contributory oral presentations.

The organizing committee of ICETEST 2023 invites potential participants around the globe to take part in the conference from 2nd to 4th February 2023. Renowned and outstanding researchers, academicians, practicing engineers and scholars from all over the world are expected to present their research in cutting-edge technologies. In addition, ICETEST 2023 provides a fantastic opportunity to network with your peers from academia, R&D organizations and industry.
